Unfortunately, audio development is full of technical jargon. If you find a word in our documentation that you don't think a general developer would know, please open an issue so we can add it below.
| Term | Description |
|---|---|
| Plugin | A program that runs within another audio program. It can perform many functions such as audio synthesis, effects, and MIDI modulation. |
| VST, AU, LV2 | Common standards for implementing audio plugins. For a comparison, see the Plugin Standards page. |
| DAW | Stands for "digital audio workstation". Examples include FL Studio, Ableton Live, and LMMS. |
| GUI | Stands for "graphics user interface". |
| rust-vst | rust-vst refers to the crate library in this repository. |
