The server is a vanilla console app (Sdk="Microsoft.NET.Sdk").

Should Microsoft.NET.Sdk.Web be used instead?

One difference is that with the web sdk, dotnet publish will create a web.config, which is required for hosting with IIS afaik. The sdk also affects the VS project system, at the least the icon changes.

( I am currently creating a new project based on the template, and writing down everything I notice, because I won't remember it even next week)

Microsoft.NET.Sdk.Web is used when azure deployment is specified

/cc @isaacabraham @theprash - do you think Microsoft.NET.Sdk.Web should be used by default?

Good question. For the Azure deployment, we actually do this, but it's not done "out of the box".

I think Phillip recommended me using it for Saturn template (which i haven’t updated yet) so I guess it should also be here. As far as I know it also enables some VS right click magic
