Data from SK N2K #131
-
Hi everyone and sorry for my English, I recently installed the SK 2.9.0 server on RBpi4 that is present in openplotter 3, I receive data from the N2K bus thanks to a board hat with MCP2515. I would like to collect data during my sailing trips to create polar diagrams and from my SK data browser I only see two data referring to the apparent wind, angle and speed. Why are the real wind data not present? Someone may object that for the polar diagrams of a sailing boat the real wind is not needed but the SOG is needed (and it's true) but I don't understand why they don't pass this data on the bus. Thanks |

You can use the derived-data plugin to compute true wind. Note that STW is needed to compute true wind. (derived-data can also compute "ground wind") |

After successfully installing Derived data my B&G Zeus 3s chartplotter no longer shows the true wind indicator and I noticed that this happens because now there are two data on the bus that the chartplotter previously calculated using apparent wind speed and direction. I thought of setting the "signalk-to-nmea2000" plugin in the wind PGN to off but I don't want to lose the data sent to the cloud. Thanks |

The cloud plugin “should” (I don’t know what plugin you are using read the signalk data value, not the N2k value which is sourced from signalk and published on the N2k bus. I only push signalk to N2K when there is a specific need for a specific data element. Brad Harley. — Sent from my iPhoneOn Sep 17, 2024, at 09:19, Philomene64 ***@***.***> wrote:

Unfortunately I'm translating into English with a translator and I hope that the meaning of what I write in my language is understood h Actually I used the Signalk-to-n2k plugin because I have the Victron cerboGx that sends PGN to SK that otherwise I could not use on my Chartplotter (fuel tank-water tank-dinette temp- etc). However I blocked, on Signalk-to-N2K, the wind packets leaving only those mentioned above and I see that the Signalk-Cloud plugin actually sends all the packets that I then use on the magnificent Wilhelmsk App remotely. Sorry but being a novice and having found some plugins already installed on Openplotter 3 for SK I'm trying to understand how the system works. Thanks |

Can someone help me by explaining how I can fill in the "NMEA 2000 Tanks Instance Id" field found in the SignlaK to N2K Plugin? I see that in some PGNs the "N2K id Instance" is also required, what is it and, in the case of PGNs that come from Venus, where can I find them? Thanks |
