Python 3.x is now sometimes the default version and almost always available as python3. It is likely necessary to clear the CMake cache after this. This change also deletes a old (outdated) script.

Note that CMake 3.12 includes a FindPython3 module which is perfect for our needs — but some of our target platforms still use older versions of CMake.
