Imo this way is to slow and inconvenient to select what i want on the main page, what if i want the side menu and nothing else? I think it will be way better to have something like this

I don't think the proposed menu is a solution, since tabs can be added dynamically based on content and services. Also, I am not sure I understand what the issue is. You can swipe items away if you don't want them and just want an empty main page.

Imagine that I added 40 channels on my tabs, 10 for cooking, 10 for technology, 10 for music and 10 for some course or something. If I just want to see just tech content at the moment I have to remove all the others, and if I want to see them again in the tab I have to add them one by one. The option of simply making a list of tabs being able to activate or deactivate without having to remove percê seems more natural to me.

this is just to demonstrate a point btw

And NewPipe has massive performance issues with lots of tabs…

About your proposed solution: how would you reorder tabs then?

The tabs feature is supposed to be almost permanent, not to be changed everyday. The use case you brought about can be suited by the new feed and subscription groups.

"And NewPipe has massive performance issues with lots of tabs…"
you're missing the point .-.
the point is not the number of tabs, is just the option to deactivate it

"About your proposed solution: how would you reorder tabs then?"
the same way , i dont know if its possible or how much of a trouble it will be to put a checklist there (not being sarcastic, i really do not know) it's just an ideia

"The tabs feature is supposed to be almost permanent, not to be changed everyday."
okay '-', just an idea

#3319 is a lot more logical if #3732 (comment) is the case. Checklist doesn't sound like a worthy solution.
