This application is designed to help users generate personalized cover letters for LinkedIn job applications using OpenAI's GPT technology. The app provides a user-friendly interface to input and store your resume and OpenAI API key, and then generates a cover letter based on a job description.

Profile Setup:

To prevent unnecessary API calls during development, a flag (useChatGPT
) is available in src/utils/chatGPTUtil.js
. Set this flag to false
to use dummy data instead of making actual API calls. This helps in reducing costs and allows for testing without incurring charges.

Clone the repository:

Navigate to the project directory:
cd linkedin-cover-letter-generator

Install dependencies:
npm install

Start the application:
npm start

Build the project:
npm run build

Open Chrome and navigate to
chrome://extensions/

Enable "Developer mode" by toggling the switch in the top right corner.

Click "Load unpacked" and select the
build
folder generated within the project directory. -
The extension should now be loaded and ready for testing.
