Updates on the project? Or newer alternatives?

I just tested this to trace my node backend and I really liked how lightweight and easy to use it is to generate a log file that I could then easily analyze using Tracecompass or chrome viewer. The issue I see is that there are some documentations/features missing. I wouldn't mind working on PRs for this or anything but if you know of a newer alternative that would do the same (generate traces in an appropriate format) and be (this might be a stretch) bunyan compatible that'd be great.
