Describe the bug
Just updated to 4.5.1. Can't create any block on a new page or new post - it will just show this "Start writing text or HTML" box (please see the screenshot attached); the "add block" button at the top left of the screen is disabled (please see the screenshot attached). When editing posts or pages, the same thing happens, all content is showed as HTML. Browser console shows no errors or warnings so I'm completely lost.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Update Gutenberg to 4.5.1.
  2. Add a new page or post.
  3. Try to add a block (text, image, list, whatever).

Expected behavior
The usual Gutenberg behavior - Ability to add a block and edit them visually, like 4.4(?) version.

Screenshots

Gutenberg 4.5.1 - can't add blocks

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Fedora GNU/Linux
  • Browser Firefox
  • Version 63.0.1 (64 bits)

Can you check if the "Visual Editor" setting is disabled on /wp-admin/profile.php?

Can't tell, but here's the complete content of that file:

<?php
/**
 * User Profile Administration Screen.
 *
 * @package WordPress
 * @subpackage Administration
 */

/**
 * This is a profile page.
 *
 * @since 2.5.0
 * @var bool
 */
define('IS_PROFILE_PAGE', true);

/** Load User Editing Page */
require_once( dirname( __FILE__ ) . '/user-edit.php' );

Can you check your console (while the page is loading) if there are javascript errors?

@acidrums4 You should open that page in the browser: https://www.uniagraria.edu.co/wp-admin/profile.php

Yup, just tried again. But as the screenshot shows, there are no errors, warnings or anything of that sort.

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhh

That was really stupid and unexpected! But I haven't changed that setting - I was writing post with no issues, I just updated the thing.

Sorry for all the noise, thank you all so much.
