@jameskoster This might have been discussed elsewhere, so my apologies if I missed it. I wonder if there would be any objection to trimming down the wording of the links in the footer to:
@richtabor Any thoughts? |
I think that's reasonable. Probably something to tackle separately though, factoring in "Manage all pages", "Manage all templates" which can also be refined. |

I like this ordering, it feels more natural to me that the pattern categories are adjacent to My patterns
. And from looking at the code, it sounds like the "Theme patterns" are really non-core patterns, so include patterns from plugins as you mention, which is a good justification for removing the heading 👍
Visually, the only other thought I had while testing this out is whether we need the spacing between My patterns and the folders? Without the heading, I was wondering if it might make sense to have them the same distance apart, so that as a user they look like buttons that are all in the one section? I'm mostly thinking of how it looks when switching between those views:

Just a thought, though, not at all a blocker. This LGTM, and feels like a better way to order things in this view to me! ✨
I see @vcanales mentioned that folks might find it confusing removing the heading over in #52568 (comment), so just adding as a reviewer. I suppose if we're not sure of whether or not to remove the heading at this stage, we could always keep the heading in this PR, but retain the change to the ordering. |
The main issue to fix is that plugin patterns appear under the "Theme patterns" heading, so I'd prefer not to re-instate that heading here. I think the decision is to go with this PR (IE remove the heading), or to rename it like in #52568. Though I suspect it is now too late for the former in terms of 6.3? |
I think this is fine. |

LGTM
I just cherry-picked this PR to the update/second-round-RC1 branch to get it included in the next release: 184448b |
* Try restoring the site editor animation (#51956) * Try restoring the site editor animation * fix header animation * Remove accidental addition of layout prop * tidy up formatting * fix animate presence issue * Fix animation between sidebar view and distraction free edit view * Leave sidebar present and maintain canvas to sidebar animation The sidebar is necessary for routing on mobile so we have to maintain its presence in the DOM. Just hiding it isn't enough though, as it is still able to be reached with keyboard tabs and screen readers. Using the relatively new `inert` property disables the element from user interaction, so we add that when we don't want the sidebar to be shown. * Fix mobile view for pattern library On Mobile, the canvas mode wasn't being set to edit when using the pattern library. This updates it to use the showSidbar value instead, keeping it in sync with the inert setting. --------- Co-authored-by: Saxon Fletcher <saxonafletcher@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Jerry Jones <jones.jeremydavid@gmail.com> * Change password input to type text so contents are visible. Without this workaround, specific setups will unexpectedly fail, such as the action tests in the `reusable-blocks` package, due to the way that those tests create their own registries in which they register stores like `block-editor`. Alternative to #52568.
What?
Why?
Pattern categories beneath the "Theme patterns" heading can also be added by plugins, which makes the heading inaccurate.
See #52498 for more information.
