What?

Props Bot is a new GitHub Action that will compile a list of contributors for a given pull request. The bot will leave a comment with a list of contributors formatted for use in both Trac SVN and GitHub.

It was built and maintained on GitHub in the WordPress/props-bot-action repository with the aim of helping committers and maintainers collect props for a given change.

Why?

Currently, only the contributors making code commits are properly credited in GitHub for their contribution. Props Bot will change all that.

How?

Props Bot generates a list of Co-authored-by trailers for all contributors who participated on a PR.

The integration comments on closed/merged PRs. See #57608 (comment). It isn’t a big issue but it could save some resources if the hot would only interact with open PRs, also excluding drafts if not yet covered.
