First Public Release
Bazcal 3.0 Light Falcon
Finally a new version of Bazcal!
Why a new version of Bazcal?
Bazcal has grown a lot over the last few months and as many of you have probably noticed, our current iteration of Bazcal, 2.0 ReX, just couldn't keep up with this new demand. Many of you have probably noticed all the outages and slow responses of Bazcal over the last month. This version of Bazcal is completely re-engineered from the ground up: It's the same Bazcal you know and love but optimized for a whole new level of availability.
So, what's changed?
There's no algorithmic changes made to the core of Bazcal, so responses and commands are identical. What has changed is the backend running the bot. It's completely reimplemented in C/C++. It is also once again made completely open sourced under the AGPL-3.0 license, meaning no more cooldowns for auction house flipping. Every step in the Bazcal event loop has been optimized, resulting in 10-25x less RAM usage in preliminary testing. Moving to C/C++ allows us to run Bazcal on more discord servers and most importantly have less downtime. The recommendation embeds are now delivered inline with the command, it no longer creates channels. This makes responses snappier and leaves less room for bugs.
Features saying goodbye
Bazaar notify is officially abandoned, might be reincarnated in the future. Sell price trend is also gone.
Things server owners should note
If you already have Bazcal running on your server, you may safely delete the Bazcal category and any child channels, the new version of Bazcal delivers messages inline.
If you're wanting to add Bazcal to your server. Invites are now open again!
