Fixes the two UI issues described in issues #447 and #445.

If a listing's description is blank, the description element isn't rendered, preventing "invisible elements" from messing up the layout.
Upon investigating lag issues on the listings page I found a probable cause --- the mouse-handling logic was quite convoluted. I found a better solution.
