This PR aims to build up a basic release workflow elaborated as below.

  • Create a branch named release-0.10.0-rc according to the guideline in notion (https://www.notion.so/zettascale/Procedures-f8ce26c9deb441c18e441856e00c1d41)

  • Set the target reop if not yet

    gh repo set-default git@github.com:ZettaScaleLabs/zenoh-dissector.git
  • Delete the existing release if needed

    gh release delete 0.10.0-rc -y
  • Tag the current commit (add -f to overwrite if wanted)

    git tag 0.10.0-rc -m "v0.10.0-rc"
  • Push the commit with tag (add -f to overwrite if wanted)

    git push --atomic -u upstream release-0.10.0-rc 0.10.0-rc

(Assuming git@github.com:ZettaScaleLabs/zenoh-dissector.git is tracked as upstream)

  • Then a push with version tag would be treated as a "release request". It will generate the a draft pre-release like this.

With this workflow, we can

  1. Publish or update the release with CLI only.
  2. Auto-generated draft release with
    • Checksums
    • What's changed
    • Release note (We only provide a basic installation guide so far. But we may maintain a changelogs.txt for better documentation in the future.)
