I would like to collaborate in the translation of the Zettelkasten application into Brazilian Portuguese (pt_BR). I am not from the IT area but I would like to help translate the interface to pt_BR. In other applications there was a table with two columns, one in English and one for the target language. I request information on how to proceed to help with the translation. Thank you.

@sdnnvs I really appreciate the offer. First of all I also have to research how we could do this best. Eu te ligo assim que eu puder dizer mais.

@RalfBarkow Maybe Transifex could be an option. They offer a free license for open source projects.

@RalfBarkow @strengejacke i just created a transifex project for zettelkasten: https://www.transifex.com/Elmari/zettelkasten. if you want i can add both of you as administrators of this transifex project, in that case i just need your usernames (I can also replace the Elmari in the url with something that fits better).
@strengejacke We could manually upload the properties file (as i did for now with the german properties files). It would be, however, much faster if we would install this app for the zettelkasten repository: https://github.com/apps/transifex-integration/installations/new. Transifex will then upload the properties files automatically. If I understand it correctly only you can install that app, because I am not an administrator of this github project.

Thanks @Elmari. Does @sdnnvs – in order to help translate "Zettelkasten" – need to signup at https://www.transifex.com/signup/?join_project=zettelkasten ?

@Elmari At https://www.transifex.com/Elmari/zettelkasten/, there I just clicked on "Join team" and then had to "perform a request language action before joining project translation". I got:Your join request for the Portuguese (Brazil) (pt_BR) language has been submitted. You will receive a notification upon acceptance or denial. And now I have to wait …

Yes, i think though he can use his/her github account to login.

I just added you as a project maintainer. You should now be able to add new team members as well as translate.

In the FreedomBox Project we are using https://hosted.weblate.org/ --> https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/freedombox/

Ah interesting, didn't know this platform. Ofcourse we don't have to use transifex, that was just the only platform I know of that is free and has a good github integration.

@Elmari I configured one local file (mapping) as described in https://docs.transifex.com/client/config/#configuring-one-local-file-(mapping). After tx push --source there is now the new aboutbox-properties entry (above the 'old' AboutBox.properties).

We could use mapping-bulk, described at https://docs.transifex.com/client/config/#configuring-multiple-local-files-(mapping-bulk)

Before using mapping-bulk, could we test the workflow and the github integration with the aboutbox-properties in feature/Transifex ?

Sounds good. I think though volunteers should still use the web interface of transifex for ease of use and we, as the developers, should use tx for managing the properties files and keeping them up to date. But I guess that's what you thought too, right? @RalfBarkow

Transifex is a proprietary, web-based translation platform. (according to Wikipedia)
There are FOSS translation alternatives:

@strengejacke @Elmari Ich möchte vorschlagen, o.g. Hosting-Anfrage an Weblate zu richten. (FOSS translation)

Im Formular müsste Name, E-Mail, Projektname, Projektseite, Quellcode-Repository und Dateimaske sowie unter Zusätzliche Nachricht eine Beschreibung des Projekts und "Ihre Beziehung dazu" angegeben werden. Was würden wir schreiben?

Wäre unsere Dateimaske somit src/main/resources/de/danielluedecke/zettelkasten/resources/*.properties ?

Since processing the Weblate hosting request will take some time, I would suggest to continue with the Transifex evaluation in the meantime.

What do you think of Transifex? Could you imagine working with it? They have the required "table with two columns, one in English and one for the target language."

If you like this tool, the next step I would suggest is to send you an invitation to collaborate as Translator for pt_BR to the Zettelkasten-Team.

The source language is currently still German but maybe we will find out together how we can best configure the project to make your participation as easy as possible.

Best regards,
Ralf

I followed the procedure but I can't access the en_GB paradigm for translation. I believe I need to be approved as a member of the team by an admin. Take a look at the screencast or video from my perspective:

I agree. Regarding the files, i figured it out: one needs to be logged in in order to access the files. Before that the links are not clickable.

@RalfBarkow Hi, great work! Most of the problems have been solved. I believe that only the "replace" window presents the biggest problem, I think, due to UTF-8 encoding.

Good Morning. I've been using Zkn since its inception. I really like the program and I thank everyone who contributes to keep it running. I would like to collaborate in some way, if you think it could be usefull. I don't understand programming. But I understand Luhmann's theory very well and also the original operation thought by him for his zkn. I also understand German well (I translated Social Systems from German to Portuguese)- so I can help, for example, with questions about translation into Portuguese or to understand some think about the logical operation of Luhmann. Anyway, that's it, I thought that maybe these qualities could be useful to you at some point.
