Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) was established as a public university in 1990 in the city of Barcelona. Committed from its beginnings to the pursuit of excellence, it holds 22 undergraduate programs, 91 master courses and 9 doctoral degrees in the fields of biomedical sciences, social sciences and humanities and communication and information technologies.

The CTI, founded in 1985, is an administratively independent institution supervised by the Greek Ministry of Education. Its mission is to conduct basic and applied research in computer software and hardware and provide services. CTI has a longstanding expertise and interests in educational technology, design and development of educational software and educational activities, teacher training in ICT, distance learning techniques and practices, design & development of complex information systems and web-based applications.

Imperial College is ranked in the top ten universities of the world – 3rd in Europe and 5th in the world overall – according to the 2009 Times Higher Education Supplement league tables. Imperial College was established in 1907 in London’s scientific and cultural heartland in South Kensington and was an independent constituent part of the University of London up until the end of June 2007. With effect from 1 July 2007, the College has now withdrawn from the University of London to become wholly independent, to coincide with its Centenary year. Imperial has over 13,000 students from 158 different countries.

The University of Deusto (UD) was founded in 1886, well known in the field of Social Science and Humanities and covering fields from law and economics to psychology and tourism. UD offers five internationally renowned Erasmus Mundus Master programmes. The Deusto Campus Mundus 2015 project has been described as an “International Campus of Excellence Promising Project” by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation. This recognition places de University of Deusto in the elite of universities in international excellence by 2015.

TLU’s Language Centre is affiliated to the Tallinn University and prepares the students to participate at foreign language courses, so we are offering a general knowledge about the language and the culture. We use all the traditional methods and experimenting with the new media. For example: using the materials that the Internet offers, watching movies, documentaries, news, conversations. We also organize video productions in which the whole class participates (writing and performing in foreign language).

The Institute of Applied Linguistics is dedicated to creating the best specialists in the fields of translation and teaching foreign languages, as well as intercultural mediation. Students obtain excellent preparation in two of the five languages offered: English, French, German, Russian and Spanish. The practical study of foreign language is enriched with courses of general linguistics, communication theory, and the structure and culture of language.

The University of Algarve was founded in 1979.Shortly after it merged with the Faro Polytechnic Institute. As a result the University is now composed of 3 Faculties and 4 Schools. The number of students adds up to nearly 10.000 while the staff amounts to some 650 and the non-teaching staff totals 455. The University of Algarve carries out teaching and research in various domains and has taken part in numerous transnational partnerships and projects within and outside the European Union.

The School of Languages, Literatures & Cultures was recently established within the College of Arts at NUI Galway and consists of the disciplines of Classics, French, Gaeilge, German, Italian and Spanish. However, the individual disciplines have a long commitment to the promotion of innovative research and practice in Translation, language Teaching and Learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as strong and active ties with the wider community. The school has 40 full-time academic staff and over 1700 undergraduate and postgraduate students and offers a wide range of programmes, including a number of interdisciplinary courses, like the MA in Translation Studies and the MA in Advanced Language Skills. Evening diploma course aimed at a diverse audience have also been offered successfully for many years.
