Background

• In 1933 the Catholic Church had an Irish citizen deported to the U.S. link
• Between 1980 and 2012, women living in sheltered housing at a Waterford convent were given pocket money in exchange for packing board games for Hasbro. link
• In 2017 a mass grave was found at a former Catholic 'care' home containing the remains of babies and children. link
• Contraception was legalised in the republic in 1980, but it was only available with a G.P prescription. In 1985 contraception was finally available without prescription. link
