AnkiDroid does not collect or transmit any information on you or your activities by default.
At your option, and only after you grant permission, AnkiDroid may send crash traces to a crash collection service wholly owned and operated by the AnkiDroid team. These crashes will contain information about your device and the current AnkiDroid configuration settings, and is used to troubleshoot and fix errors with the program. No information is ever shared from this system and crash reports are purged periodically as they grow older, typically once they are 30-60 days old.
At your option, and only after you grant permission, AnkiDroid may collect and transmit application usage information to Google Analytics. This may include information about your device and AnkiDroid configuration, and informs the developers which features are being used, and how they are being used, in order to focus limited developer time on features people care about enough to use. The service is configured in such a way that the data is not allowed to be re-shared with Google or any others, and all information is as anonymous as is possible with available Analytics settings.
AnkiDroid uses a specific API permission to allow or disallow other apps to access the collection stored on your device via the AnkiDroid API. By default, this permission is disabled. You may manage this permission in the system permissions settings for the apps you install that make use of the AnkiDroid API access on your device. AnkiDroid has no control over what the apps you install and grant API access to do with your data, but AnkiDroid will not allow them to access your collection without your explicit grant of the AnkiDroid API permission.
Use of the AnkiWeb cloud sync functionality is completely optional, and is governed by its own privacy policy, available here: https://ankiweb.net/account/privacy
