https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/51396/files changed some return types to make cohere retrun type xcom serde serialisable while pushing xcoms, but in the longer term, we have an issue to track and support such ser / deser and leaving a comment as to why the types were changed will not leave the users confused.
