Deprecation notice: This project is no longer maintained and will be archived on 2025-06-30. Consider using ng-log (API-compatible, community-maintained, migration instructions) or Abseil Logging (Google-maintained) instead. Thank you for all the contributions!

Perhaps Abseil Logging since we are already using parts of Abseil?

I'm negative to use Abseil because it's difficult to maintain...

Hmm interesting. At least with the Meson configuration it should just be:

absl_log_severity_dep = dependency('absl_log_severity')

I'll have to trudge a bit more through the CMake configuration, but I think its just another library in that list that is already provided (?)

-1 for Abseil, it's an optional dependency only and extremely annoying to handle.

GLog is only an optional dependency of Arrow, do we even need to use something else? We can just remove GLog support (after deprecating it).

I was pointed to https://github.com/gabime/spdlog as a possible alternative. But it should probably remain optional.
