• Move MemoryCatalog into iceberg crate. #1472

Build Release

GitHub Side

• Bump version in project
• Update docs
• Generate dependencies list
• Push release candidate tag to GitHub

ASF Side

• Create an ASF Release
• Upload artifacts to the SVN dist repo

Voting

• Start VOTE at iceberg community

Official Release

• Push the release git tag
• Publish artifacts to SVN RELEASE branch
• Change Iceberg Rust Website download link
• Send the announcement

BTW I just merged #1449 which should publish RC artifacts to pypi as pre-release version.

I believe it's time for us to start preparing the next release. If there is no other people interested, I'm willing to help run this release.

BTW we failed to publish to the RC artifact to pypi as pre-release version

There's a bug in the github action.

Setting cargo version to: 0.6.0-rc.1
Error: Cannot downgrade from 0.6.0 to 0.6.0-rc.1

Looks like cargo set-version wont allow to go from 0.6.0 -> 0.6.0-rc1, which makes sense but 🤷
See killercup/cargo-edit#863

This is not blocking the release; we just wont have pre-release python artifacts. Let me see how to fix it
