Okay. So I decided to incrementally test this. I had to do a "Remove", then clean up the directory, and do a full, fresh install of Calibre (5.14), install DeDRM 7.2.1 plugin, restart Calibre, specify Debug Mode (which also restarts Calibre) and did a fresh import, and it worked.* (*Actually, it didn't, but the failure is due to the fact that there was a case mismatch in the serial number. I'm going to add a separate Issue recommending the addition of an upper( ) function in there to help make things a little more idiot proof. Because I'm a talented idiot. Once I corrected the serial number to all caps, the subsequent import worked.) |

Can I get your help on this? I downloaded calibre 5 and drm 7.2.1 and installed the plug in but the book still pops up an error saying the book has a DRM on it. Where did I mess up? |

Are there any known issues with decrypting Adobe Edition PDF's? The plugin works with epubs, but won't work when I try to do the same thing with the PDF version (which is what I want because it maintains all the elements from the actual book.) calibre Debug log |

For anyone else who stumbles across this like I did, I have another option you can try. The suggestion to use Calibre 4.23 and DeDRM 6.8.1 did work for me with Adobe Digital Edition PDFs. However, I wanted to run a more recent version of Calibre. If you look on the main GitHub page for DeDRM it says it is no longer maintained and that the author plans to use the NoDRM fork of DeDRM that is still being maintained. So, if you go to the NoDRM fork of DeDRM at https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools and download the latest release, then uninstall DeDRM and install that instead, that fixed the Adobe Digital Editions problems I was having and it also works fine with Calibre 5 and 6, no need to go back to Calibre 4. In addition to that, NoDRM will successfully remove the newer ADE DRM that some newer books and PDFs have which DeDRM 6.8.1 and 7.2.1 will not do. |

With a comic like that, you might be better off extracting the page images, creating a cbz, and going from there. I'd guess the issue is due to whatever Amazon puts in there to enable panel view with their app. (BTW, DeDRM is intended for purchased books.) |

I'm trying to remove the DRM from my nook books on calibre, but it doesn't seem to be working. I have the latest versions of both the plugin and calibre itself. I've installed the plugin as described, then closed calibre, restarted it, and made sure the plugin is enabled. When I transfer the EPUB books to my calibre library, they transfer fine, but most of them still have the DRM in place when I check. I'm guessing that I need a new key, but I've input my email address and password, and I keep getting an error, saying they are incorrect. |

The method to retrieve the key built into DeDRM doesn't work anymore since B&N disabled their old desktop Nook programs. There is still a way to manually extract it from a virtual Android device. The file must not contain what DeDRM needs to decrypt it. Did you open an .acsm file with ADE in order to download the epub? Is ADE authorized with your Adobe ID and on the same machine and user as calibre with DeDRM? Is it ADE 2.0.1? |

Lately Mac users have found they need to use calibre 4.23 and DeDRM 6.8.1 to get started. Then after that is working, they can update to the current versions. You may also want to look at avoiding the KFX format. See this post: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283371 |

I installed those versions and I'm using a dowloaded AZW book from amazon, avoiding Kindle for Mac and the KFX format. It still doesn't work. I also installed calibre and DeDRM in a virtualbox Windows but it also didn't work |

If you are downloading from the website, you need to choose an E-ink Kindle (not a Fire) for the device and have the Kindle's serial number entered in DeDRM's customization. |

There's more than one way to protect a PDF. Try googling
remove pdf drm
I get a ton of hits. There may not bee a free solution for what's in your PDF.

First thing, your DeDRM is an old version, no longer maintained. The latest is 10.0.3 from https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools
To get your kindle serial number try these
Eink Kindle: Click [ Main Menu → Settings → Device Info ] or enter ;711 in the search bar to check DSN.
Amazon site: Go to [ Manage Your Content and Device → Device ] and check the kindle serial number.

First, use DeDRM 10.0.3: https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools/releases/tag/v10.0.3 This will allow you to get your key from the Windows Nook app. If you don't have it already, install it on the same machine and user as calibre/DeDRM. Go into DeDRM's customization and retrieve the key. Then restart calibre before re-adding your books. |

The Kindle format seems to be the most difficult when it comes to setting up the conversion of their books. Don't beat yourself up - I used to be a programmer, and I have trouble working my way through many of these issues. I hope you get this figured out! |

Possible the book didn't have DRM to begin with. To get the key, you'll need to have the Windows Nook app installed on your PC and be logged into your B&N account. Then in DeDRM's customization, click the ADE PassHash (B&N) ebooks button and then the green plus sign. Then under Select key type, choose Extract key from Nook Windows application. Then it will ask you to give the key a name which can be whatever you want. Click ok and apply on your way out of the dialog boxes. Restart calibre. |

That doesn't quite answer my question. I've typically used the old 1.17 Kindle for windows app to download purchases and importing to Calibre that way. My understanding what this this particular pathway is no longer accessible for books published in 2023. Is this still the case? Does the latest iteration of deDRM remove drm for new 2023 books downloaded this way? |

Older versions of Kindle for PC will not download books published after 3 Jan 2023. However most books downloaded with the current Kindle for PC can be decrypted if you have both the DeDRM 10.0.9 and KFX Input plugins installed in calibre. |

Looks like you're trying to add a acsm file and not an actual book. Install Adobe Digital Editions, authorize it with an Adobe ID, and open the acsm file. Then add the epub or pdf file to calibre. |

Hi! I attempted to install the Obok plugin (7.2.1) on my Windows 11 machine, using calibre 7.3. I planned to use Obok to import books from the Kobo desktop app, but I didn't even get that far. I read all the readme files and can't identify my issue. Hi so honestly I have no idea what I am doing (this is coming from someone who struggled to download word) but I purchased a book on kindle and trying to convert it to pdf or something that is printable. I am at the point where I am about to copy and paste each page to word because I am a bit frustrated. I am using a MacBook Pro Sonoma 14 and I tried using the kindle classic app that was no longer being supported in November. And used the DeDRM plugin and a KFX plugin on calibre.
