mac osx 10.5.8 doesnt recognize enviroment

ive downloaded different builds, 1.05 and 1.03 and neither work, also tried using different unzip programs because i read on a board that it solved the issue for some people, and it still doesnt work, im not a computer programmer, im new to arduino and this is proving to be frustrating, can anybody help??

You'll have to be more specific than you are now. What does "recognize environment" mean? What does "not work" mean? What happens? Any error messages? We are computer programmers, but not wizards :-p

Also, this issue tricker is mostly for reporting bugs in the Arduino code. For general help with setting up your system, http://forum.arduino.cc might be a better place to ask.

word, thanks, and by "not work" i mean that when i try to open the program it doesnt do aything, no bouncing icon, no error messages, it just doesnt open...

Can try starting the program from a terminal to see if there is any console output?

This seems to be similar to what is described in #1665

To confirm you can try to run in the terminal, using the open command. E.g. open /Applications/Arduino.app

hey thanks for your responses guys, unfortunately nothing is working when i try to open it thru the terminal either :/ i might just end up buying a stupid netbook so i can program this thing.
