3rd approach, the lazy one
Connect your board to usb and open https://tasmota.github.io/install/ in your browser
Select "Tasmota for 4MB flash" and proceed following the instructions

  1. On ESP8266 GZ files are not meant to be uncompressed on your PC but directly used for upgrading through OTA. Tasmota un compress the file on the fly. BIN files are exclusively for serial flashing.
  2. If your board already had been flashed with a tasmota binary for 1MB flash, you cannot OTA to a 4MB image (or same the other way round). You need to serial flash
  3. Once you have a 4MB binary running you can upgrade OTA by either
