Welcome to the ithowifi wiki!
To buy visit this page https://www.nrgwatch.nl/ (Dutch) or https://www.tindie.com (English).
This Wiki covers the installation and configuration of the add-on for both the CVE and non-CVE units, integration with home automation software and more.
Note: the add-on hardware and software is the result of reverse engineering and endless hours of testing and debugging. It is not endorsed or supported by Itho Daalderop.
The add-on covers various use-cases so consider these first before obtaining it.
When ordering add-on, you need to decide on CC1101 or not. The add-on works fine without CC1101 but if you want to link existing remotes and monitor their status, you can use the CC1101 transceiver to pair the existing remotes and read its commands and - if applicable - CO2 values (itho RFT-CO2) and Humidity/Temperature values (itho RFT-RV). For HRU300 devices the CC1101 module is needed to control the speed of the fan. This is due to the limited support for the I2C protocol on these devices.
The following Itho devices are supported or have been tested by the community. Use this table to select the right add-on.
Device | Type | Add-on | Comments |
---|---|---|---|
CVE ECO 2 | Fan | CVE | This unit is also sold by the brand 'Heatrae Sadia' in the UK |
CVE ECO RFT (SE/SP, HE/HP) | Fan | CVE | |
CVE-S ECO (SE/SP, HE/HP) | Fan | CVE | |
CVE-S OPTIMA inside (with built-in CO2 sensor) |
Fan | CVE | CO2 sensor only usable when extra long headers are used on the add-on |
CVE-S OPTIMA package (with external CO2 sensor) |
Fan | CVE | To readout the CO2 sensor the CC1101 module is needed |
HRU 200 ECO | Fan | CVE | Also sold as 'Elektrodesign EHR 140 Akor BP' and 'Heatrae Sadia Advance Plus' |
DemandFlow | Fan | non-CVE | Readout values and change settings only |
QualityFlow | Fan | non-CVE | Readout values and change settings only |
HRU-300 | Heat Exchanger | non-CVE | Adapter board and CC1101 needed for full control |
HRU-350 | Heat Exchanger | non-CVE | WTW |
HRU ECO | Heat Exchanger | non-CVE | WTW |
WPU 5G | Heat pump | non-CVE | Readout values and change settings only |
AutoTemp | Floor heating distributor | non-CVE | Readout values and change settings only |
The main print below is from a CVE ECO 2E article number 545-5020 version 110-0010-002 and doesn't have the 2x4 pins connector so the CVE addon won't work.
The backside of the RF print.
The add-on hardware and installation steps differs per unit type.
-
Addon for CVE
This applies to the Itho Daalderop CVE-S and related units. -
Addon for non-CVE
This applies to DemandFlow, QualityFlow and HRU-350 and supported WTW units. -
Addon for WPU Heat Pump
This uses the non-CVE add-on but applies to Itho Daalderop WPU Heat Pump like 5G.
Once the CVE or non-CVE add-on is installed, automation is a logical next step. Use either the Web API or MQTT for the basics.
Guidance for modern home automation systems Home Assistant, Node-RED, HomeBridge and Domoticz is covered here
