These are ideas for features. Should any of you be interested in pursuing any of the feature below, please feel free to do so.

Kindly edit this wiki if you do come up with any idea or if you have developed a new feature!

I must mention that I am not sure about the feasibility of such ideas.

Apologies if some points have already been discarded or implemented.

Please, correct me if I wrote something which is not correct.

Traffic advisories:

  • Add support for a mini speaker and output of Radar page sound.
  • Add support for a mini display / led indicator much like a FLARM [Or just use a SoftRF SkyView].

.

Shutdown & Reboot:

  • support for a physical push switch (not to cut power, but to issue the shutdown command)
  • already there - please see the following

.

Support new Sensors

  • support of the new BMP388 pressure sensor - newer generation than BMP280
  • support of AHRS GY- BNO080 sensor
  • support of CCS811 CO2 gas sensor

.

Explanation/Help menus

  • Improve explanation/help menus, especially regarding EU-specific functions and toggle buttons action.
  • what are those sources marked with only a letter "e"?

.

Stat. page:

  • Useful/interesting to have access to some graphs regarding the Rpi status, particularly regarding Temperature and fan operation.
  • Something along the line of:

.

Multiple WiFi sticks - WiFi client mode

  • Raspberry Pi as passthrough for Internet data + inject Stratux data
  • permanently add the function, better if toggled via the interface.

**There is a relatively new device from down under: BerryGPS/IMU V4. https://ozzmaker.com/berrygps-berrygps-imu-quick-start-guide/ **

  • This device incorporates a magnetometer with AHRS and GPS, and can deliver all of the data over SPI
  • Fan control would need to be reconfigured
  • One USB port would be free from GPS
  • GPS is moved away from the SDRs to the opposite end of the PI. (better cooling of the SDRs, maybe)
  • External GPS antenna capable.
  • Bolts to the PI board with 2 screws, or 4 screws for PI Zero.
  • If installed on PI Zero, a stand alone mag ref/AHRS could be built for remote mounting, in a sealed case referenced to the aircraft static port.
  • Other functionalities would follow, like display of wind speed and direction.

Support output of nearby Radio stations

  • Trig and other Radios support the option of showing radio stations nearby, it would be great if Stratux could output these frequencies to the Radio. The connection is via RS232 and the standard protocol used is the Garmin SL40 which Garmin helpfully published at the back of the SL40 manual http://www.aeroelectric.com/Installation_Data/Garmin/SL40_IM.pdf
