OpenSSL 1.1.1 is out of support btw ...

There are some distros with active backport or security support, like Ubuntu 20.04 or Debian 11..., I think we should support most of them as long they deliver regular security updates.

Yes, supporting OpenSSL 1.1.1 still for some time would be really appreciated; EPEL 7 supports OpenSSL 1.1.1 until 2024-06-30. RHEL 8 supports OpenSSL 1.1.1 even until 2029-05-31, but I'm switching the EPEL 8 builds to OpenSSL 3.0.x before.
