unbound-formula

Travis CI Build Status Semantic Release pre-commit

A SaltStack formula which manages _unbound_.

The actual configuration file is out of scope. It's not trivial to map Pillar data to ubound's configuration format. Furthermore it's not clear that this the best approach in all use-cases.

Therefore this formula assumes you'll provide a configuration file (or a template) following the TOFS pattern.

See the full SaltStack Formulas installation and usage instructions.

If you are interested in writing or contributing to formulas, please pay attention to the Writing Formula Section.

If you want to use this formula, please pay attention to the FORMULA file and/or git tag, which contains the currently released version. This formula is versioned according to Semantic Versioning.

See Formula Versioning Section for more details.

If you need (non-default) configuration, please refer to:

pre-commit

pre-commit is configured for this formula, which you may optionally use to ease the steps involved in submitting your changes. First install the pre-commit package manager using the appropriate method, then run bin/install-hooks and now pre-commit will run automatically on each git commit.

$ bin/install-hooks
pre-commit installed at .git/hooks/pre-commit

Meta-state (This is a state that includes other states).

This installs the unbound package, manages the unbound configuration file and then starts the associated unbound service.

This state will install the unbound package only.

This state will configure the unbound service and has a dependency on unbound.install via include list.

This state will start the unbound service and has a dependency on unbound.config via include list.

Meta-state (This is a state that includes other states).

this state will undo everything performed in the unbound meta-state in reverse order, i.e. stops the service, removes the configuration file and then uninstalls the package.

This state will stop the unbound service and disable it at boot time.

This state will remove the configuration of the unbound service and has a dependency on unbound.service.clean via include list.

This state will remove the unbound package and has a depency on unbound.config.clean via include list.

Linux testing is done with kitchen-salt.

Requirements

Creates the docker instance and runs the unbound main state, ready for testing.

bin/kitchen verify

Runs the inspec tests on the actual instance.

bin/kitchen destroy

Removes the docker instance.

bin/kitchen test

Runs all of the stages above in one go: i.e. destroy + converge + verify + destroy.

bin/kitchen login

Gives you SSH access to the instance for manual testing.
