So version 4.0.0, which is called out by name in the README as the recommended version, is actually pulling in version 3.17.0 of the protobuf library. This contained a really nasty typo and wouldn't compile: see protocolbuffers/protobuf#8611.
As that's now over a year old, any chance of getting a 4.0.1 released, or at least having the README updated to point to 4.0.0-3.20.0 instead?
