No matter my plug placement, my configuration changes, choosing between Marlin Vanilla, Bugfix, or BTT's Marlin, I cannot get my BLTouch to self test, let alone work.

I'm starting to lose my cool over this printer...
I've attempted several versions of Marlin, changed ports, swapped wires, changed configurations... nothing has helped.
The BL Touch does not self-test correctly, and stays RED and BLUE the entire time the printer is on.
During power up it blinks red for a little bit, but the probe does not engage.
If I reset and then re-self-test the BLTouch after power on, it blinks red forever, at least until I reset it again.

I've got an Ender3, a BLTouch 3.1 Smart, and the BTT SKR v1.4

Everything else works fine, just not the BLTouch.

To be clear, it doesn't work in the zstop port, OR the probe port...

Check the wiring. On my BLTouch clone, I had to swap 2 wires for the pinout to match up.

With the current main branch of Marlin this was literally everything I had to do to get it working: #207 (comment) - I did not have to switch a cable for my BL-Touch clone. But someone in that thread reported that there might be a pinout difference for some BL-Touch clones/devices.

@Arakon I feel like I am also having an issue with incorrect wiring, but I am not sure what a proper wire order. I have 3dtouch with green, red and yellow.

Which wires did you switch?

Mine had a blue wire, I think.. so no guarantees.
When holding the connector with the wires up and the smooth side towards you, the right two wires need to be swapped.
I.e. if the order is green, red, yellow, you need to swap red and yellow.
