error messages are not displayed in frontend

Hello,
If I try to enter a phone number that is not a Satispay customer, I get no error messages and no feedback at all. A Js error appears in console. Apparently the response.responseJSON object is not there. Only the response.responseText is present in the js fail() method.

I will provide a fix that worked for me. I am not a good frontend developer, so maybe there is a better solution.
