GDMT Ontology: https://github.com/bmir-radx/gdmt

Tasks include converting this to an OWL ontology so that it can be edited in Protege. Revising it so that it has a more ontological structure.

Meeting to clarify scope and schedule on 9/13/24

Attendees: Matthew, Christian, Yan, Marcos

Meeting Notes:

Goal of this task: Develop, publish, and maintain an ontology for RADx Metadata Values (GDMT).
Deadline: 11/30/24
Task lead: Christian, assisted by Matthew when needed.

Ontology available at https://github.com/bmir-radx/gdmt.

PLAN:

1) Create a new ontology, give a name and acronym to it, using GDMT as the starting point

DHMO - RADx Data Hub Metadata Ontology

2) Fix current issues and implement improvements

  • Remove terms that are not needed. Some things are still useful, such as the MIME types.
  • Define templates and make sure the ontology follows the templates. Then we can use that approach to build the OWL version or the SKOS version.
  • Create new IRIs

3) Expand it to capture metadata for additional entities (Studies and Variables)

  • Currently, GDMT is used only for data file metadata

4) Make sure it follows the SOP

5) Write technical report (by Nov 15th)

ALSO:

  • Ensure the Data File template still works!
  • Re-submit ontology to BioPortal

How do we decide what terms are not needed? How do we determine what's useful and what isn't? What is the 'Data File template'?

What are the 'needs' for RADx Metadata? Who do I need to talk to?
