Description

When I made Spotify as a standalone app from Brave, on my Manjaro install (unofficial Arch package), it came in the menu as the category 'Brave Browser Development Apps', Brave is not in development/beta on Linux anymore. I tried editing the .desktop file, however the category seems hard-coded in.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Brave, on Linux, preferable Manjaro, version 1.20.103 / Chromium 88.0.4324.152
  2. Go to open.spotify.com and then 'Install app' on the address bar.
  3. Check the menu on a desktop where the menu supports categories (KDE/XFCE/Cinnamon), there will be a category called 'Brave Browser Development Apps'.

Actual result:

image

[~/.local/share/applications/brave-pjibgclleladliembfgfagdaldikeohf-Default.desktop]
image

Expected result:

The folder is called "Brave Browser Apps" or "Brave Apps", similar to the "Chrome Apps" category

Reproduces with every website having an installable web app.

Same thing happened to me after inadvertently installing Presearch as a standalone app. Unable to locate the configuration file that XFCE is reading to add it to the applications menu.

Environment is Gentoo linux

Update: removed unwanted xfce apps menu category by deleting this file

~/.local/share/applications/brave-ibplobhgoibifgodakhlfcaonppiidme-Default.desktop file

The people at Brave don't care about PWAs unfortunately.
