Description

My Surface Pro X laptop (ARM processor) has three webcames (rear facing, front facing, and infrared front facing for Windows Hello signin). I need to load feed from front facing webcam (pointing at my face as I face the laptop screen) but only the rear facing webcam loads up, pointing at the table the laptop sits on).

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to RayBan.com and view a specific frame, such as: https://www.ray-ban.com/usa/eyeglasses/RX3578V%20UNISEX%20002-rb3578v-black/8053672768268?category_Id=1724739
  2. Click on Try On button that appears right under the main glass frame image (on the left side)
  3. Click to confirm allowing browser access to the webcam
  4. I had to play with this to get the webcam feed to appear at all. Turned Autoplay and Sound ON in browser settings
  5. When webcam feed shows up it is from the rear camera
  6. I go to the Brave browser camera settings: chrome://settings/content/camera where I see listed the three web cameras.

Actual result:

Regardless of which camera I select, only the rear camera feed, facing the table shows up.

Expected result:

Camera feed that loads and displays in webpage to be from the webcam selected in Settings

Reproduces how often:

Easily and consistently reproduced

  • Is the issue reproducible on the latest version of Chrome? YES

Miscellaneous Information:

Same issue on other websites visited with latest released version of Chrome on my ARM processor laptop. I did not come across any website that loads webcam feed and where the feed from the webcam I select in the browser settings actually gets loaded.

Is your camera working in other browsers and on other websites? If it's not working with other browsers it might be camera related. If chromium related, we'll wait for an upstream fix from the chromium side.

Not working in Chrome either so likely Chromium issue that may need them to fix, unfortunately...
