Comments
hi @paulhas the problem here is the companion that it doesn't send any data. is it open on the treadmill? does it have all the permissions? let me know |
Hi Roberto,Thanks for the reply.I checked the treadmill & opened the apps option on the menu. I've attached the photos but QZ Companion seems to be running according to what it says.Regards,PaulSent from my Galaxy

hi @paulhas i don't see the photo because you have to attach them from github interface:) anyway using the adb logcat button on the companion are you able to send me the logcat file generated located in the /sdcard/ path? |
It's like it's not picking up the Bluetooth from the treadmill. When I go into Advanced Sertings & select the manual device dropdown, it doesn't list the treadmill anywhere, the only option other than other devices around my home is wifi. I've paired my phone (Samsung S21) & tablet with the treadmill Bluetooth & it appears as AOSP on Drone in the Bluetooth listing on my phone or tablet but I'm not seeing that in the dropdown in QZ |
If you scroll down here there is the button to do an adb logcat Anyway you can produce an adb logcat directly from adb |
Qz companion is not over Bluetooth, but Wi-Fi :) so it's ok that you don't see anything over Bluetooth |
Ah right, I was hoping you'd say that 👍 |
I can't get that screen to scroll at all on the treadmill display. Also, I tried to connect to the treadmill with my laptop yesterday & the log stated "cannot connect to 192.168.1.91:5555: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it". |
Argh so I have to put the ability to scroll it. Is the adb setting still enabled on the tablet? |
I still have USB debug enabled if that's what you mean |
Mmm maybe in the tablet you have something to put the pc in white list in the developer settings? Maybe something to reset the adb connection |
Not sure but I read somewhere thaf it needs to be Andriid 11 or above for ADB connection. I think the tablet is only Android 5.5 after resetting to factory defaults. Not sure if its possible to upgrade that via the browser on the treadmill tablet. That was for a WiFi connection though |
adb is possible on android 5 because we're using it with #1153 |
I think any discussion on ADB would help me Roberto, I've absolutely no idea about it at the moment. It would be great to get your software working with Zwift but I can't seem to get Companion past the point of the screen above. Is there a button to move to the next screen lower on that page that I can't see because I can't scroll down to it? |
i can add a scroll view tomorrow and then you should be able to upload the logcat from the github web interface from the tablet browser i will let you know when i'm ready to test |
OK, many thanks Roberto. I took a look at the other thread but I'm no wiser as to how to get ADB working via my laptop. I just have no knowledge in this area so it's a big learning curve for me |
@paulhas just did, it's building :) wait 2 minutes |
@paulhas done https://github.com/cagnulein/QZCompanionNordictrackTreadmill/releases/tag/3.2.5 you should be able to reach the adb logcat button now |
I can browse to the page but it's not opening the assets on the treadmill. They open fine when I go to them on my phone |
@paulhas because you need to login to github first on the treadmill |
Seems to be doing the same thing (I wrote this message on the treadmill) |
what does the treadmill says for this link? i mean which is the exact error? |
also this link should be pointing on this last apk https://tinyurl.com/qz-companion (hopefully!) |
When I click on assets the circle is like a quarter loaded then stops |
I don't have Android notification. There's one called Android wakelock but it's already enabled |
because as i said you need to join the beta from the play store page :) |
I just had QZ running on my S21 phone & Zwift on my Galaxy Tab S6 Lite tablet. I selected my phone on the Bluetooth & it worked a treat for the 6.5 mins I had it going. Zwift picked up 51m elevation compared to 47m on QZ which isn't terribly important. But otherwise the devices seemed to work OK together. I can't seem to pick up the treadmill with QZ running on the tablet yet though. I think the settings are the same but I'll maybe reinstall QZ on the tablet & try setting it up again in case I've altered something by mistake |
ok but be sure about the beta and the notification icon |
OK & something else that happened during that test. iFit Cardio stopped but the treadmill kept running & I was able to alter the speed & incline which I could see on QZ but not on the treadmill |
ifit cardio is a bluetooth app? you can use hr directly on qz if you want |
It's the name of the programme that runs the treadmill on this machine. So all the oprating display disappeared on the treadmill but it kept working OK with the controls. It's done this to me before occasionally during workouts on the treadmill but it's carried on working OK so I presume it's some sort of problem that occurs once every so often with the treadmill software. |
I've tried reinstalling QZ on the tablet which I presume is the beta version now. It's still showing zeroes in the tiles. I'll send you the QZ bug report |
That's the debug log from the tablet |
@paulhas from my phone the file is empty. could you please check it? |
Something I just noticed is the treadmill Bluetooth doesn't seem to see the tablet Bluetooth for some reason but it sees the phone. This is strange because when I checked the tablet, it sees the treadmill and was paired with it. |
I figured this out. I have a dual band router & the tablet was on 5GHz & the treadmill on 2.4GHz. I switched off the 5gig so the tablet switched & its working OK. There appears to be a clash with the iFit software though as the treadmill display keeps freezing but the treadmill itself keeps operating OK. I can restart the the treadmill app while the treadmill is running but it may shut down again, not sure yet I'm just waiting to see |
It seems to be working with the beta version of QZ in the background & Zwift on screen on the tablet. Excellent! 👍 I think for now though I'll run QZ on my phone & Zwift on the tablet in case the treadmill display shuts down. But since I restarted the treadmill app during the run it's been working OK. It's all starting to look pretty good Roberto |
This is great news @paulhas . Just wondering if your treadmill has the latest iFit app? Does it prompt to do an update every once in a while? Mine does and it looks like they're actively updating the app every few months or so |
Yes, I receive the firmware updates but we seemed to get problems with the treadmill when we updated. I had the same bother a year ago when we cancelled the iFit subs & I suspected they were messing with something. A year later they wrote about subs again & I told them we weren't interested & we started having the same bother with the treadmill cutting out. Since I reset it to factory defaults & avoided signing in to my account I've had no bother with it. A year ago I almost paid for their approved installer to install a new motor & control board. Thank goodness I didn't go ahead with it as it's been fine ever since. I might try updating the firmware without logging into my account, although I tried that while we've been doing all this testing & when I tried to get into the developer settings it asked for me to call a telephone number so it might not be a great idea updating as I need access to that area for dealing with QZ Companion |
Just an idea for possible enhancement. There's a product called Sauce that some Zwifters are using to provide them extra stats such as average w/kg, overlaying on the main Zwift screen. It'd be really good if it was possible to overlay selected tiles from QDOMYOS on the main screen. Is it possible to have Zwift controlling the incline of the treadmill to match the incline of the route? |
you can do this already! click on the floating window icon in the top bar on android!
yes it's possible but for your treadmill, since we didn't find a way yet to connect via adb, i cannot send commands from QZ |
Ah, that's great. I must have a go at settimg that up. I'll let others know about the programme too. I'll try hook it up with my bike trainers as well which would be really handy. Hopefully they'll be a bit easier than the treadmill. I have a Saris H3 & a Wahoo Kickr V |
yes they are both supported! |
I set it up for my wife this morning with both QZ & Zwift running on the tablet & it worked perfectly for about 45 mins that she was using it. She said the treadmill display stopped at one point for a couple of mins but the treadmill kept going fine & the treadmill display came back on although it was lagging slightly on the distance, presumably where it had stopped recording. But Zwift worked fine. She uses a free Zwift account as she only does the running. I'm a triathlete so I do a fair bit of work on both, although I prefer to train outdoors but it's freezing just now 😂 & can be dangerous |
Cheers Roberto. Unfortunately & typically I'm now having problems with the treadmill. The console & software are a working fine but th le treadmill is failing to start even though it displays speed. It's done this a few times & then randomly started working again but I fear it's bit the dust this time. I can only think it's a fault on either the motor or the control board. I'm not planning on getting a repair guy out because last time they told me it was best to replace both but I'd rather buy a new machine than pay for expensive repairs for this one.Cheers,PaulSent from my Galaxy

unbelieavable :( so sorry for this :( do you have a model that you're looking as a replacement? |
I'm thinking about the Noble Pro but still having a look at what's available. I definitely wouldn't go with any iFit gear any moreSent from my Galaxy

Here's something that may prove useful Nordictrack or any ifit product owners. If you update firmware to the most up to date it no longer allows you direct access to privileged mode with 10 taps/7 secs/10 taps process. It brings up a pop-up that gives you a code & a telephone number to call.If you note the code & go to this website & enter that code, it provides you the unlock code to get access to the privileged mode again.https://getresponsecode.com/Cheers,PaulSent from my Galaxy

good to know @paulhas thanks |
Thanks @paulhas . This issue is already incorporated in the QZ Companion documentation. All good! |
I installed QZ Companion on above treadmill following instructions for method 2, downloading apk to treadmill as the ADB connection was refused by the treadmill.
I then installed QZ on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Android tablet following instructions.
When starting QZ the tablet has the tiles & a message under the paus/stop buttons saying connecting. When I start the treadmill the tiles all still have zeroes.
I had a read at some problems on-line & noticed someone had a similar problem that was due to location not being enabled but I have location enabled on the tablet & the treadmill.
