Ok, thank you! |
@dwiller1 do you have an android device just to collect some information? if so, install the elliptical app, and follow this https://github.com/cagnulein/qdomyos-zwift/blob/master/docs/20_supported_devices_and_applications.md#android-device let me know |
I only have iOS devices unfortunately. Is there another way? |
no unfortunately no, couldn't ask to a friend about one? only for 10 minutes, even if it's an old android phone |
Hmm - I’m not sure - perhaps an emulator would work? If so, what elliptical app are you referring to |
nope, emulator doesn't work with bluetooth, i thought your octane device is an elliptical, it's a treadmill instead? |
I’m not actually sure what it counts as. It’s one of these https://www.garagegymreviews.com/octane-zero-runner-zr8-treadmill-review |
ok i will change it to treadmill but the bluetooth issue remains..let's see
if it the next days you can find an android device otherwise we will look
for other solutions

probably the phone is too old. don't you have another one ? maybe a little newer :) |
It’s a 2020 android phone - I think it might be the app that’s too old… |
Virtualbox on a Mac? It would be a faff but could try if you think it might work |
@dwiller1 perfect! we got a hit (even if you didn't see it!) i will try to build another version for you today! can you try qz on android too if i send you the version there? |
I don't have an android to test on - the one yesterday was temporarily borrowed |
ok got it, i will send you the ios then

I'm sending you a new one in an hour or so |
That’s great! The speed is showing now However, the cadence and heart rate from my Apple Watch aren’t going across to the iOS app. I have installed the Apple Watch app |
cadence for sure should be visible, i will check tomorrow the hr
did you press start on the watch? did you see hr on the qz app on the watch?

On the watch app I can see both cadence and HR - these are obviously the values recorded by the watch rather than from the Octane. Ideally I would want the QZ iphone app to show the cadence from the Octane, and the heart rate from the Apple Watch Many thanks again for developing such a great app |
i will check them tomorrow, i guess it's possible ;) |
Also, I’m testing out what we have got working so far this morning. |
@dwiller1 please attach the debug log showing the issue |
First one is iPhone, second iPad |
ok got it, it's about this one #864 (comment) |
ok @dwiller1 in this commit I added:
I will send you another one later today |
That’s brilliant! Everything seems to work now, except the heart rate from the Apple Watch QZ app isn’t going across to the iPad |
great! are you seeing the hr on the qz app on the iphone now? on ipad what do you have? |
That's great! I can see the HZ on the QZ app on the iPhone. Not on the iPad Pro though - is there a workaround for this or is that not possible? |
but are you running which app on the ipad ? qz? if so you have to keep the qz app alive on the iphone too but disconnected from the treadmill. the iphone will act as a bridge. so connect the ipad to the bike, then start qz on iphone and then qz on the watch and press start |
Aha thats clever. Yes, I want to run the Zwift app on my iPhone, which is why I'm connecting QZ on the iPad to the treadmill. |
let me know how it goes |
Genius - that works well |
Thank you so much for your work on this |
great! i'm closing this one now, let me know if you need anything else! |
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I need a way to get the Octane Zero Runner ZR8 Elliptical working with Zwift
Describe the solution you'd like
Any solution which allows my speed from the Octane Zero Runner to be shown on Zwift
Describe alternatives you've considered
The Octane Zero Runner ZR8 broadcasts both a ANT+ and Bluetooth signal, but the only way to connect to this seems to be via the now unsupported Smartlink app.
