We haven't added anything. Does the package work for you? It can be installed, but it looks like it requires an external executable. |

Hi. Any updates on this package being included? That would be a life saver. Now it installs but it cannot find the executable to run tesseract. Another problem is setting the environment variable TESSDATA_PREFIX. that is where the .traineddata binary files are kept for ocr. |
Unfortunately newer versions of Android are making it increasingly difficult for apps to include executable files (#605), so we won't be able to support this at the moment. |
So, implement those 'workarounds', because we are in dire need of pytesseract OCR executable file. |
Please any update on this issue |
Sorry, we're unlikely to have any update in the near future. I suggest you search for "tesseract android" to see if there's any way to use Tesseract from Java or Kotlin. If so, you would also be able to use it from Python via the Chaquopy API. |
Hello I wonder that have you done any update about this issue after 1 year? Because I succsesfuly bind pytesseract 0.3.9 by using
My chaquopy version is 12.0.0 . |
Hi Ersin
Congrats for successfully binding.
I have left this topic a long time ago as I am into different field of
study.

Like I said above, you may be able to install it, but I don't think it will work. |
