Unused for now, but needed for correct BTB compilation.
We can just use compile now, like in compile-wrappers.
Without preserving non-readonliness, it ends up as a constant, and then type propagation treats it as unchanging so it miscompiles. See #1549.

Fixes some of the #1549 stuff. Also adds a few tests for the btb compiler.
