Description

Just a small DX improvement to align with Fetch API so that we can use the Headers methods (.set, .has, .append) which are more expressive.

Will also be beneficial to #6229 when using a machine secret key as authorization header instead of an instance secret key:

const headers = new Headers({
  'Clerk-API-Version': SUPPORTED_BAPI_VERSION,
  'User-Agent': userAgent,
  ...headerParams,
});

if (secretKey && !headers.has('Authorization')) {
  headers.set('Authorization', `Bearer ${secretKey}`);
}

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

A new changeset file was added to document a patch update for the @clerk/backend package, specifically noting a change in how HTTP headers are constructed for the BAPI client. In the code, the headers are now built using the standard Headers constructor instead of a plain object. Header modifications, such as setting the Authorization and Content-Type fields, now use the set method of the Headers instance. No changes were made to the signatures of exported or public entities.

🔇 Additional comments (4)
packages/backend/src/api/request.ts (3)

105-109: Excellent refactoring to use the Headers constructor!

This change aligns perfectly with the Fetch API standards and makes the code more expressive. The Headers constructor approach is more readable and provides better type safety compared to plain objects.

112-112: Good use of Headers.set() method for Authorization header.

Using the .set() method is the proper way to modify Headers objects and ensures consistent behavior across different environments. This change maintains the same functionality while following Web API standards.

125-125: Consistent use of Headers.set() for Content-Type.

The .set() method usage is consistent with the other header modifications in the code. This ensures that the Content-Type header is properly set for non-form-data requests.

.changeset/tasty-starfishes-cry.md (1)

1-6: Well-documented changeset for the Headers constructor change.

The changeset properly documents this as a patch-level change to @clerk/backend with a clear description that matches the actual code modifications. The format follows the standard changeset conventions correctly.
