### From Zero to Hero - Outcomes from Cloud-Native El Salvador community creation

#### Session Description

People in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala leave the region for two reasons: security and lack of opportunities. We want people in those countries to have access to Cloud Native technologies. Our mission is to build the basis to inspire local talent.

During the last few months, we have created a virtual space offering resources which help enthusiasts to understand and contribute to open source projects. The pandemic brought many challenges to local preexisting communities but this wasn't our case, we have to opportunity to establish the community in a region where Cloud computing technologies are barely known. This talk will share lessons that we learned in our journey to establish a local technical community remotely.

#### Benefits to the Ecosystem

Talent exist around the world, even today in this interconnected world some people cannot access to cutting edge knowledge. Having the assumption that professors and universities are continuously updating their curricula is something that barely happens in some places. As result, many new grads face a different reality in their jobs.

Local communities have proven an organic development process for technical enthusiasts and entrepreneurs. Those communities are mostly started by a local who had opportunity to use/work with new technologies, but what happens when there is no one who has had the opportunity to discover them? how those technologies can be used there while they're relevant? Is still the knowledge a privileged resource?

Using video conferencing tools within a set of best practices can help to develop local talent around the world. Any project can benefit the existing diversity offered by Less-Developed Countries.
