Description
⚬ PROBLEM:
Youtube has started rolling out an update that makes video thumbnails on the homepage enormous which removes space for more videos to show up
⚬ SOLUTION:
an option to customize number of videos on the homepage/resize thumbnails
⚬ ALTERNATIVES:
changing the layout of the page entirely to be a grid layout with accordion dropdowns for each normal category to expand. This is inferior because of the sheer amount of work it would take to enact I think.
⚬ RELEVANCE / SCOPE:
judging by threads from googling the issue, not everyone is being forced into the new big video thumbnails, but everyone who is hates it. (unclear what percentage of user base is affected, but all affected users want this feature)
⚬ "SIDE EFFECTS":
minimal if any- it would be an optional change you'd need to set yourself and I don't see any existing thumbnail options involving size. Perhaps thumbnail quality, but if anything the current youtube settings are making that worse already
⚬ CONTEXT:
// I'll just reiterate here, to be sure the issue is understood; Youtube homepage now has enormous and less videos listed for some users (where there would normally be 5 or 6 videos recommended there are now 3 and they have enormous thumbnails. It basically looks like the tv app version of YT now). There is no option to opt out or change this update for affected users.
Thank you for your time!
