There are many versions of gcc released per year, especially patches to existing major versions. People use different versions of gcc depending on whether they are version locked to specific compiler behavior.
A recipe that at least supports the most recent version, i.e. 13.2 from last year would be a good idea. But the whole 2023 list of releases is:
