... to allow us to add more APIs using a new mechanism. Currently c/image/image exposes images as types.Image, which we can't change; so, let's define a new API that will return a different type that we can modify as necessary. For now, make that new API internal, at least until we fix the way edits are bundled with data-to-be-edited in types.BlobInfo. c/image/image continues to exist, but currently only trivially forwards all calls to the moved c/image/internal/image. copy.Image can now copy non-image OCI artifacts.
Added support for sigstore signatures: they (and related cosign
attachments) can be copied along with images after opt-in in registries.d.
Signatures can be created by copy.Image and enforced via policy.json
(currently with public/private key pairs only).
Now requires Go 1.17.
GPGMe now must be new enough to be visible via pkg-config.
github.com/pkg/errors is no longer used; that might affect
caller-observable error types (in particular, errors.{As,Is}
might need to be used instead of pkg/errors.Cause).
Changes default paths on FreeBSD.
- Remove unused Makefile variables
- Config files should live in /usr/local on FreeBSD

This is a part of #1574, per #1408 (comment) :
types.Image). Keep c/image/image with trivial forwarders, for compatibility.image.FromReference, use it to simplify transports’ implementation ofNewImage(and to fix a bug in most of them).
