Enable canary release for real-world testing before final release

@escapedcat I'm not sure how to test this easily, but if we can enable something like Codesandbox CI or https://github.com/un-ts/preversion, we can release canary version for testing before releasing.

Would like to avoid canary versions. We did this before but the effort vs. the advantage is minimal. The group that installs and tests the canary is too small. For a new major version (which does more than just dropping an old node version) is expected to have issues and that's ok I believe.

Maybe a Codesandbox with current master could be helpful? Not sure though.

Yes, I'd prefer CodeSandbox CI for current status.
