Current Implementation

With the release of v1.10 the contact diary functionality was added, which allows users to enter contacts and locations for each day. There is no possibility to be reminded of adding this information in case one fails to think of it by oneself.

Suggested Enhancement

Implement an option for users with which they can allow CWA sending them push notifications. These notifications should include a prompt to add the day's places & contacts to the contact diary. The user should be able to choose at which time(s) they want to be reminded. Use cases could be:

  • user sets 1 reminder at 9:30pm, a time at which they are usually at home and done with their day
  • user sets 2 reminders, one at 8:30pm and another follow-up reminder at 9:30 in case they missed the first one
  • user sets 2 reminders, one at 12:30pm for when they usually finish their lunch break and another one at 9:30 for when they usually have finished their day

Expected Benefits

Users may forget to enter their contacts & places each day and not remember to catch up with it until a few days have passed - a timeframe in which they may already have forgotten about small but important encounters. By reminding the user each day we can ensure that

  1. contacts and places are as up to date and uninterrupted as possible
  2. users regularly open the CWA which leads to increasing awareness about low-risk encounters and on top forces CWA to update its keys in case something has gone wrong in the background

Making this optional reduces the chances of users getting annoyed by push-notifications they never opted in for. However there could be a single initial push-notification pointing out the new contact-diary functionality and the possibility to get regular reminders.

One could imagine that the app sends an additional reminder some time (e.g. 15 or 30 min) after it has detected an above average large amount of encounters.
Benefit: if such a situation happened unplanned or accidentally, people might otherwise forget about them. For example:

  • usage of public transport took longer than usual and in a unusual overcrowded situation
  • spending long time in queue at meat or diary counter in supermarket or at post office

The Corona-Warn-App does not get in touch with the encounters (=RPIs). This is all done by the underlying API, the ENF/ENS (Exposure Notification Framework/System) from Apple/Google.

For more (detailed) information go to: www.coronawarn.app/en/ and scroll down to the section "How does the app work?".

So, this is sadly not possible.
