I want to break this migration up into as many pieces as possible since I am modifying small things here and there

Add CODEOWNERS, go.mod file, copy Makefile from SDK, add proto files for client with updated import/package name, modified API route to dropt v1beta1 to v1, get third_party vendor files
Makefile Show resolved Hide resolved
Makefile Show resolved Hide resolved
proto/ibcgo/core/client/v1/client.proto Show resolved Hide resolved
// ClientState queries an IBC light client.
rpc ClientState(QueryClientStateRequest) returns (QueryClientStateResponse) {
option (google.api.http).get =
"/ibc/core/client/v1/client_states/{client_id}";

I changed the API route. It was v1beta1 before. I'm not sure what ramifications this has. Also not sure if the ibc should be ibcgo

@fedekunze thoughts?

The only difference I think would be the swagger documentation. There should be a make command to generate it.

Also, this is API breaking

yes for some reason lint and swagger don't work for me

I think API breaking is fine. We are breaking all the proto types anyways by changing the package name. I'm fine with either way, I just figure we will want to change this eventually since IBC is definitely not in beta

makes sense to keep the same version as IBC here

Why does the package have to be ibcgo for pure proto files?

Not sure if you are wondering why it isn't ibc or why it isn't ibc-go

IBC would clash with the new ibc repo which will host the ICS related proto files

ibcgo flows with the naming conventions, and I'm pretty sure proto doesn't allow -s which is why it is lightclients and not light-clients

ACK. Although I think the core module should be migrated as-is (copy the whole thing) and then do all the renamings on a follow-up PR

yea I started doing this in colin/code, but can do that flow here. Will add the code as is and then merge and reopen with the import name changes and test fixes
