Link to blog in header #485

I'm curious why you find yourself needing to get to your blog page frequently? The intention of the dashboard is for it to have everything you might want from the blog page plus more (like your stats, access to your private puzzles, etc). It might be the case that we need to add something else to the dashboard if there is something you're missing there. |
Each week I go to the page of my current meta on multiple occasions to get a list of the successful solvers to then post an update over at xword-muggles. I also edit the puzzle blurb to add the link to the nudges when I post them over at xword-muggles; similarly once the answer is posted. So I'm constantly wanting to access my most recently posted meta. The quickest way to access it is from the blog page. |
That makes sense! I can imagine that getting to the latest puzzle is a frequent desire for lots of constructors. I wonder if we could add a "Most recent public puzzle" section to the very top of the constructor dashboard. We could even put direct stats/edit links there too. Think that would help? |
That would be cool! I find I rarely look at the stats on the Dashboard and just scroll down to the Recent Puzzles section. So a "most recent public puzzle" section at the top (under the "Create new puzzle" button) with relevant links would be really handy. |
Also, is there any chance of breaking the stats into two columns to match the two columns of puzzles below? That would cut down on the amount of scroll-down required to get to the puzzles! And I still really like the idea of a link to the blog in the header. :-) |
Good suggestion - should be live next time there is a deploy.
I'm still not 100% convinced - mainly because slots in the top bar are at a premium (there is at least one future feature I have in mind that I think needs a spot) and once something like that gets added it is impossible to remove w/o frustrating everybody. But after more thought I do like that better than the idea of a "most recent public puzzle" section. So I've changed the title of this issue back to your original suggestion and will continue to give it more thought. In the meantime I hope the stats columns alleviate your pain point somewhat! |
If the link in the header is not possible, then a "Most recent public puzzle" section at the top of the constructor dashboard would be brilliant. |
You could make it "Most recent public puzzles" and list the five most recent puzzles. That way, it will look like all the other lists in that section. |
After thinking about it I don't think a new section on the dashboard makes sense. If this gets implemented it'll be a new link in the header (but I still have reservations about using up a spot there). |
Any chance of adding a link to a constructor's puzzle blog in the top area of all pages?
I find I have to go to the constructor page, and then scroll down to click the link to the puzzle blog. And I find myself having to do this frequently!
