Issue

Background

The blog announcement Actions: new images and ubuntu-latest changes dated Sep 25, 2024 announced that the ubuntu-latest label would migrate to ubuntu-24.04 by Oct 30, 2024.

Due to negative community feedback about the package content of ubuntu-24.04, the migration to ubuntu-latest was delayed until the period Dec 5, 2024 to Jan 17, 2025 (see Notice of breaking changes for GitHub Actions dated Nov 5, 2024 and Notice of upcoming releases and breaking changes for GitHub Actions dated Dec 5, 2024).

Change

Examples in the README document which were previously showing runs-on: ubuntu-22.04 are updated to use ubuntu-24.04. This brings them up to the level of the live examples in .github/workflows.
