9.2.0 Update

Most 3DS CFW applications and software are designed for use with a SysNAND version between 9.0.0 and 9.2.0. If you are below version 9.0.0, you will need to use this guide to update your 3DS without going all the way to the latest version.

If you are on versions 9.0.0 through 10.7.0 you can just follow the instructions here.

If you already have a RedNAND setup, this guide deals exclusively with SysNAND and you should follow all instructions from within or applying to SysNAND.

Note that the terms EmuNAND and RedNAND refer to slightly different implementations of the same concept.

This section of the guide will most likely not work from a version <4.0.0, update using a game cart update that contains a version 4.0.0 or above.

What you need

• slot0x25keyX.bin (Mirror)
• rxTools 2.5.2 (Mirror)
• Decrypt9WIP 20160118
• The latest release of sysUpdater
• The latest release of FBI
• The latest version of Universal Inject Generator
• The 9.2.0 firmware pack zip file for your device and region:

• New 3DS 9.2.0 - EUR (Mirror)
• New 3DS 9.2.0 - JAP (Mirror)
• New 3DS 9.2.0 - USA (Mirror)

• Old 3DS or 2DS 9.2.0 - EUR (Mirror)
• Old 3DS or 2DS 9.2.0 - JAP (Mirror)
• Old 3DS or 2DS 9.2.0 - USA (Mirror)

Instructions

2. Copy slot0x25keyX.bin to the root of your SD card
3. Copy rxTools.dat from the rxTools zip to the root of your SD card
4. Copy Launcher.dat from the Decrypt9WIP zip to the root of your SD card
5. Delete any existing updates folder from your SD card if there is one
6. Copy the updates folder from the 9.2.0 firmware zip to the root of your SD card
7. Copy sysUpdater.cia from the sysUpdater zip to the root of your SD card
8. Eject your SD card and put it back in your 3DS
9. Open the browser and go to http://www.reboot.ms/3ds/load.html?Launcher.dat
10. If the exploit was successful, you will have booted into Decrypt9
11. Go to SysNAND File Options, then select the Dump Health & Safety option to dump Health & Safety to hs.app
12. Press Select to eject your SD card, then put it in your computer
13. Extract Universal Inject Generater, then copy both hs.app from your SD card and FBI.cia from the FBI zip to the input folder
14. Double click go.bat
15. Copy FBI_inject_with_banner.app to the root of your SD card and reinsert your SD card into your 3DS
16. Press B on Decrypt9, then go to SysNAND File Options and select the Inject Health & Safety option
17. Press down once to select FBI_inject_with_banner.app, then press A to inject
18. Go back to the RedNAND file options menu in Decrypt9 (If you have one)
19. Backup RedNAND to emuNAND.bin (If you have one)
20. Go to the SysNAND file options menu on the main menu
21. Backup SysNAND to sysNAND.bin
22. Press Select on the main menu to eject your SD card
23. Put your SD card in your computer, then rename sysNAND.bin and emuNAND.bin (If you have one) to sysNAND-OLD.bin and emuNAND-OLD.bin (If you have one)
24. Copy over sysNAND-OLD.bin and emuNAND-OLD.bin (If you have one) to a safe folder on your computer in case you ever want to revert to this version
25. Delete sysNAND-OLD.bin and emuNAND-OLD.bin (If you have one) from your SD card
26. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS, then press Start to restart your 3DS
27. Open the browser and go to http://www.reboot.ms/3ds/load.html?rxTools.dat
28. If the exploit was successful, you will have booted into rxTools and it will prompt you to press the R button, which you should do
29. Let it install any files it needs to
30. Select Devmode
31. Your 3DS will reboot back into the home menu
32. Launch the Health and Safety Application (which is now FBI)
33. Navigate to sysUpdater.cia and press A to install
34. If you get a database error, it is because you have never accessed the eShop before. To fix this, you will need to insert your SD card into your computer, then open the Nintendo 3DS folder. From here you will need to go into the first ID folder, then the second ID folder. The IDs will have random looking names. Now go to the dbs folder and create two empty files called title.db and import.db in this folder. Insert your SD card back into your 3DS then go to Settings > 3DS > Software. The system will tell you the database needs to be rebuilt. Allow it to do this, then redo steps 9 through 17.
35. Press the home button to go to the home menu, then open the sysUpdater application and press the A button to install
