Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK) includes support for authenticating with kafka via IAM. AWS recently provided a go libary to make this quite simple to impliment in applications using sarama - https://github.com/aws/aws-msk-iam-sasl-signer-go This makes managing credentials much simpler for users of MSK as setting up (and maintaining) SCRAM crednetials is a bit more effort.
