@benjamincerigo "Need automated weekly email to all partners that sends traffic stats" is really important to get figured in this release I think - need that feedback loop! Could you help out? Right now I have no idea how the analytics work. We should add some docs on the analytics as we do this.

Looks good to me.

What is the reason for moving to Machine Learning? Why not AI?

What is the reason for moving to Machine Learning? Why not AI?

For the moving to ML: I think that generally the perception within the industry/wider world when we say data science is stuff like data analytics - I don't want to be doing analytics ay. And I feel more confident in ourselves and datavaluepeople that I feel confident (and not like we're overselling) to say we do machine learning projects.

Why not AI: I think this is good question. Given its prevalence of usage within industry. I guess I just feel like we're over selling ourselves then, or just giving into hype marketing (which is what made me want to say data sci and not ML to begin with).

I'm very open to alternatives/ideas/thoughts on it all.

Some thoughts:

  • I have noticed that since the release of ChatGPT and OpenAI, AI has started to become more prevalent in the media (that I am reading)
  • My feeling is that it has lost the empty hype and is becoming more of a general thing that people work on and talk about
  • Generally, people (not in the data science world) understand AI more than ML.
  • I still think about the opinion that Alex gave when he started his PhD on AI is interesting something like "AI is a general term for modelling and automating stuff in both simple and complex ways"

From the above thoughts, I think that:

  • AI would be more understandable to a general audience
  • ML would be more directed to people in the industry

I am fine with both but I would vote for AI just because that is what I say when I am explaining to people that I don't know what datavaluepeople is.
